Brussels sprout recipe, breast health

Brussels sprouts for breast health

posted in: recipes 0

Did you know that daily consumption of cruciferous veggies (eg. cabbage, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower) has been clinically shown to protect against breast cancer?

The following recipe is not as wind producing as you would think. Cooking your chickpeas with a pinch of asafoetida (aka Hing), seems to reduce their flatulent effects.

1 cup of chickpeas, soaked overnight and cooked in plenty of water (never add salt to when cooking pulses and legumes – they won’t go soft).

In a large fry pan, fry 1 small finely chopped onion until translucent.

Add 500gm Brussels sprouts – halved

Add salt and pepper.

Fry until sprouts start to brown. Stir to prevent sticking.

Add ¼ cup of chicken or vegetable stock and cook until sprouts are to your liking (I like firm).

Add chickpeas and warm through.

Enjoy!
